Andy Walton’s Weekly World Watch for October 3 – 9, 2021

Each Weekly World Watch (WWW) looks at a few key developments that have happened during the past week. It is in no way meant to be exhaustive, but in it, you may just a look at those events Andy Walton saw as significant from a Biblical point of view.

For October 3 – 9, 2021 he a.o. looks at

  • Israel’s foreign minister who has made the first official visit to Bahrain by an Israeli cabinet member since the states established diplomatic ties last year.=> September marked the first anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Accords. At an event US Secretary of State Antony Blinken promised to “keep normalisation marching forward”.
  • Mercenaries have been around since the days of Alexander the Great but they have come into their own in this age of deniability and hybrid warfare.  Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group (Putin’s private army) have been expanding their presence across Africa, helping the forces of Khalifa Haftar in Libya, meddling in the Central African Republic, Sudan and Mozambique. > The Wagner Group is a Russian paramilitary organization who have been involved in operations in Syria, Ukraine and Africa. It is owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a businessman with close links to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The company trains its personnel at a Russian MoD facility. It is seen by many analysts to be Putin’s private army who can act with incredible force and skill but without having to wear a Russian military uniform. With Bible in hand it is interesting to see where these “soldiers” are involved in. Notice the article says Libya and Sudan – both countries mentioned in Ezekiel 38 that join Russia in invading Israel. The AV says Libya and Ethiopia – but the Hebrew word for Ethiopia is Cush and Cush corresponds to modern day north Sudan….
