So, we’ve finally reached the end of 2022 and we can honestly say that it didn’t come soon enough. The past 12 months has been one of the most newsworthy in quite some time as it often felt that there was never a dull moment and most of it wasn’t for good reasons either.
From the war in Ukraine, to the energy crisis, the death of the Queen, Elon Musk’s chaotic takeover of Twitter and the never ending turmoil of British politics its been a year like no other and there hasn’t been too much for anyone to cheer about. Thankfully the world of TikTok kept us entertained with its bizarre stream of trends and videos that you just don’t find anywhere else on the internet and Lionel Messi and England’s Lionesses victories in the world of football did manage to put a smile on many people’s faces. And who could forget the Will Smith slap debacle which managed to provide a distraction for an entire week!
Now that we’ve all enjoyed a bit of a rest during the Christmas and New Year break we can look forward to what 2023 might have in store for us and it’s looking good…oh. Sorry to say but a top Russian official thinks that a civil war will break out in the United States and renowned mystic Baba Vanga thinks the trajectory of Earth will change. Oh well…try to have a Happy New Year.
American conservative commentator Ben Shapiro has given his two cents on the latest major Netflix release Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and let’s just say that he isn’t impressed and people think it’s hilarious. The new film sees Daniel Craig reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc in an all-new murder mystery this time starring Edward Norton, Janella Monae and Dave Bautista. While the film by director Rian Johnson has been warmly received by fans and critics alike but Shapiro couldn’t contain his dislike of the film and simply had to post a huge 17-tweet thread about the movie. One of his biggest dislikes of the movie was that he disliked Johnson’s writing. Shapiro wrote: “First, the writing. The first half of the movie is a complete misdirect and a waste of time.” Now you won’t find any spoilers here but often one of the biggest appeals of a murder mystery for a viewer is being ‘misdirected’ so we are surprised at who the murderer is when it is finally revealed. It’s a very basic trope of scriptwriting but Shapiro appears to have completely forgotten about which shouldn’t come as a surprise given that he is a failed scriptwriter. Yes, you read that correctly – allow us to explain.
With 2023 approaching, people are looking forward to celebrating the New Year – and people have been sharing one tradition they did this time last year that they have credited for finding love in 2022. In a plethora of viral videos, many have shared videos of themselves sitting under a table before the stroke of midnight “in the hopes of finding love,” and show several photos and videos of their current partner as “proof” that the tradition works. This is a Latin American custom where single people crawl under a table at midnight for good luck in finding love in the new year.
A New England Patriots fan is being praised for remaining cool-headed after a woman harassed him during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The fan, identified as Jerry Edmond, attended his first NFL game on Sunday 18 December to cheer on his team at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Wearing a No 12 Patriots jersey, otherwise known as Tom Brady’s number, Edmond sat alongside Raiders fans to watch the game go down. Unfortunately, he did not have the most pleasant first experience as one Raiders fan antagonized him throughout the game, eventually yelling in his face. One Twitter user took a video of the woman harassing Edmond and said she spent the game “chipping” at him for “cheering for the Patriots in ‘her’ stadium.” The video shows the woman getting close to Edmond’s face, yelling at him, and shaking her fingers at him at the end of the game. Edmond, who The Daily Mail branded as a “Karen Silencer”, remained still the entire time, not engaging with the angry woman.
A joint effort of several authors who do find that nobody can keep standing at the side and that “Everyone" must care about what is going on in today’s world.
We are a bunch of people who do not mind that somebody has a totally different idea but is willing to share the ideas with others and to be Active and willing to let others understand how "today’s decisions will influence the future”. Therefore we would love to see many others to "Act today".
